Who is this course for?

General practitioners, nurses, physiotherapists, community paediatricians (who offer primary care to children), pharmacy teams, physicians (internists, pulmonologists, paediatricians), and other health care professionals with tertiary-level education in respiratory anatomy and physiology.

How will you learn in the Spirometry Simplified course?

This course comprises five modules, with the initial four covering theory and conducted entirely online, while the final module is a hands-on practical Masterclass that facilitates in-person interaction between learners and instructors.

Within the eLearning modules, you will be provided access to an array of valuable learning resources, including:

• Engaging short video-lectures delivered by our esteemed faculty.

• Interactive multiple-choice questions designed to emphasize crucial concepts covered in the video lectures. These exercises are not graded but serve as a tool for students to receive instant feedback on their comprehension and promote self-reflection for a more profound grasp of the material.

• Practical case-based exercises centered on both actual and simulated spirometry results, offering students ample opportunities to hone their spirometry interpretation abilities.

• Complementary resources thoughtfully curated by our faculty, encompassing research papers, international guidelines, instructional videos, and more.

Within each module of this course, you'll find video-lectures and a varied array of questions and exercises. Please note that these exercises are not factored into your final grade; rather, they are intended to promote self-reflection on your learning journey and assist you in pinpointing areas where a review of fundamental concepts may be beneficial.

Learning objectives

  • Perform spirometry quality assurance and quality control
  • Evaluate the validity of spirometry test results

  • Record and report the spirometry test result

  • Set up a spirometry clinic
How will this course be evaluated?
After finishing the 4 online modules you will have a final exam. 

Please note that every module incorporates video-lectures, along with a varied range of questions and exercises. These questions are intended for self-reflection and self-assessment. They do not contribute to your final grade but are designed to foster a deeper understanding of the material and pinpoint areas where you may need to revisit fundamental concepts.

After the Masterclass, students have to submit a portfolio with 10 spirometry reports.

How to get a certificate?

Certificate of Attendance

  • Complete the learning materials from the 4 online modules
  • Obtain at least a 75% grade on the final exam
  • Complete the student feedback form

Certificate of Competence

  • Obtain the Certificate of Attendance
  • Attend the practical Masterclass
  • After the Masterclass, students will be invited to submit a portfolio with 5 spirometry reports.
